The entire third floor of this historic, NJ brownstone is the Master Suite
consisting of the bedroom, sitting room, galley kitchen and of course, an elegant bathroom for two.
As with the Kid’s Bath on the fourth floor, the bathroom was gutted down to the original brick, then framed accordingly to allow for new plumbing and electrical.
Fixtures were chosen based upon the historic styles of the surrounding neighborhood.
Marble tile abounds in a mix of shapes and sizes: 18″ square wall tile, brick-shaped ‘subway’ tile and hexagonal floor tile, lending interest and a nostalgic aesthetic, while respecting the architecture of this home’s era.
The custom vanity is topped with Calacatta Gold marble and polished nickel fixtures sparkle while maintaining a clean, tasteful ambience.
Modern luxuries include a heated towel bar, electric radiant-heated floor, thermostatic shower valve and an acrylic tub – which was easier to maneuver than one made of cast iron, as we carried it up several flights of narrow stairs.
Equally as elegant as any upscale hotel, this Master Bath is also befitting of its historic roots.
